Dr. Thomas E. Prisinzano Presented with The Matt Suffness Award


Dr. Thomas E. Prisinzano, Associate Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, received the Matt Suffness Award at the 7th Joint Meeting of the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) with several European societies held in Athens, Greece, 3-8 August, 2008. During the ceremony, Dr. Prisinzano presented the award lecture "Discovery and Development of Novel Agents to Treat Drug Abuse".

The Matt Suffness Award, is intended to recognize the contributions of younger natural product scientists, and to provide a special, timely forum for them to present results from their research at the annual American Society of Pharmacognosy meeting. The Award also recognizes and honors the memory of Dr. Matt Suffness. Dr. Suffness served as the Society's President in 1989-1990, during which time he initiated the "Young Investigator's Symposium" which now bears his name.
